Compressor dehumidifier and ionization

Compressor dehumidifier and air ionisation simultaneously?

Air ionisation is a great feature. It helps to purify the air and reduce odours. You may have noticed that only desiccant dehumidifiers have air ionisation. Compressor dehumidifiers and ionisation do not exist at the same time anymore, but they used to.

Compressor dehumidifier and ionisation are not used simultaneously due to new refrigerant.

"Old" compressor dehumidifiers used gases R134a or R410 as refrigerants. That is no longer the case. For climate reasons, R290 gas is now used because it has a much smaller climate impact if it leaks.

R290 is the same as propane. Propane is very flammable and can explode in the right mixture with air. The device that creates the ionisation also creates small sparks. Therefore, it is not a particularly good idea to have sparks near propane, which in the worst case can leak out.

Dehumidifiers with desiccation have no gas and are completely safe. Therefore, ionisation is still found on many desiccant dehumidifiers.

Meaco Arete are safe

Meaco Arete are compressor dehumidifiers completely without ionisation and are therefore completely safe to use. Suitable for room temperature, and for drying clothes.

Kompressor avfukter og ionisering, ikke samtidig. Bruk Arete sorpsjonsavfukter. Helt uten ionisering.
Dehumidifier Arete. Air enters from the sides. Water tank that is easy to access and empty.

Which dehumidifier is best for getting rid of cellar odour?

A dehumidifier is not just a dehumidifier. There are several different types. Some are good in one place, while others are good in other places. If you are going to combat cellar odour, there are two things you should look for:

You must have a desiccant dehumidifier. The reason for this is that the temperature in the cellar is usually lower than in the rest of the house. The dehumidifier that is good for drying clothes may not be the right one for a cool cellar. So remember to buy a desiccant dehumidifier.

You must have a dehumidifier with ionisation or aerOHeal. These are purification processes that remove cellar odour. A desiccant dehumidifier with ionisation will therefore both remove the odour and also remove the cause of the odour.

If you find a dehumidifier with these two properties (desiccation + ionisation), you have found the right dehumidifier to get rid of cellar odour.
